The MATRIX is a self-adhesive 2x2 coin holder in white, sized for a 25mm coin, sold in packs of 25. You lay the coin in the open frame, fold it over, and press the two sides firmly until the adhesive takes — a small, satisfying ritual. The window is anti-glare film, the liner is free of chemical softeners, and the card is writeable, so each coin can carry its own quiet note. Sealed, the holder is semi-airtight; the whole thing is 50 by 50mm and fits the cases and albums built for that size.

It is the writeable card that catches him. Jonah remembers an evening spent filling out a stack of these by lamplight, each one annotated in a hand that grew steadily less legible as the coffee wore off and the hour wore on.
