The EVERSLAB is a square coin capsule with a black insert cut for a 21mm coin — though the system runs from 14 to 41mm in single-millimetre steps, so the right fit exists somewhere. The two halves close with a single click. The plastic is clear and scratch-resistant, free of acid and softeners, and the whole thing measures 89 by 59 by 10mm. There is a labelling field and a set of cards, so the coin can carry its grade and its year wherever it goes. They come five to a pack.
It is the labelling field that does it. Jonah once knew an archivist who annotated everything — coins, jars, the backs of photographs, and on one occasion a houseplant — in a small upright hand that never wavered. He claimed an unlabelled object was merely lost in a tidier way. Jonah did not entirely agree, but he stopped leaving things unmarked.
